How to Factory Reset the MyTouch 4g

T-Mobile myTouch 4G Android Phone, Black (T-Mobile)
Performing a hard reset  of the Mytouch 4g will remove ALL data including the Google account, system data, application data, application settings, and downloaded applications. Typically this will not erase the contents on the SD card, but a final backup is always recommended.  Only perform this reset if absolutely necessary.

Standard Process

  • From the home screen, go to MENU, and then press Settings.
  • Hit SD & phone storage
  • Factory data reset
  • Tap Reset phone
  • Hit Erase everything.

Alternate method (if the phone can't be turned on)
  • With the phone turned off, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button.
  • Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the VOLUME DOWN button.
  • Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button

  4. My MT4G has been freezing in the reset and re-install mode. Can anyone assist me? Factory reset does not work. Hard reset using the Vol down and power on to special boot screen works to a point: I can get the reset to seem to take place yet when I restart the phone all previous apps and data reappear. HTC sent me the most recent rom (PD15img) and when I install that from SD card, it too does not work. The ROM instals but the reboot process freezes negating the whole effort. Am sure the issue is a simple software issue and will greatly appreciate any guidance. Downloaded the Fast Wipe software but do not know how to use it, step by step. Any folks out there with any ideas to get the phone working(besides simply getting a new device)?
