How to Factory Reset the Motorola Droid 3

Performing a Factory Reset on your Motorola Droid 3 will remove all data including the Google account, system data, application data, application settings, and downloaded applications.  This may or may not wipe the contents of the SD card.  It is recommended to perform a full backup before you go through the reset process, also please ensure that you have at least 3/4 charge before you reset.  Only perform this reset if absolutely necessary.
Standard Method:
  • From your Home Screen, select the Menu tab
  • Select Settings
  • Select Privacy
  • Select Factory Data Reset
  • Select Reset Phone
Alternative Method:  If your phone is frozen or unresponsive, then follow these steps after you have pulled the battery, left it out for 30 seconds - 1 minute, and reinserted.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up and Down keys, then press the Power key
  • The display should show several boot modes (ie; normal powerup, recovery, AP fastboot, etc.)
  • By pressing the Volume Down key, navigate to "Recovery", and press Volume Up to select it
  • The display should show the Android Recovery screen, press the Volume up and down at the same time
  • You now should get several more options (Reboot, apply update, wipe data), use the Volume down to navigate to Wipe Data/Factory Reset, and press the power button to select it.
  • You will get a confirmation screen asking if you want to wipe all user data, scroll down to Yes with the volume Down key and again use the Power button to select
  • the device will now reset, press power button when done to select reboot system now
and that's it, you're all set!

  2. Thanks...I just had to reboot from a frozen screen and this worked great. Glad I didn't have to do factory reset.
